Esce il documentario sulla tennista femminista che sfidava i maschi
King, the tennis player who challenged sexism
A great athlete, one of the strongest tennis players in history, feminist and lesbian activist for LGBT rights. Billie Jean King has made sport as a tool in the struggle for civil rights. Her most famous match is The Battle of the Sexes, 1973, which now becomes a documentary, presented last month at the Edinburgh Film Festival. The meeting was a major media event, with more than 30,000 spectators at the Houston Astrome and about 50 million viewers. King clapped (6-4, 6-3, 6-3) the 55 year-old Bobby Riggs. We publish here the trailer waiting to see the movie in Italy.
Now Billie Jean is 69, here an article on The Guardian tells her beautiful story.
