She is an economist (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil) and has specialized in Latin American social thought (Clacso, Argentina); she has done her MSc and PhD in development economics (Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil). Member of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE)'s Membership Committee. She was a visiting scholar at Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies (Jawaharlal Nehru University, India), Lateinamerika-Institut (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany) and Université de Genève (Switzerland).
