È stata Dirigente di Ricerca presso l’Istituto di Neurobiologia e Medicina Molecolare del CNR di Roma. È stata una delle fondatrici dell'associazione Donne e Scienza di cui è stata presidente per tanti anni. E' stata anche nel direttivo dell'EPWS (European Platform for Women in Science) ed è tuttora attiva in diversi progetti europei per la promozione delle pari opportunità nella scienza.
